What Exactly Are RDVs? - Coin Community Forum

SilverCents Pillar of the Community United States 3281 Posts	Posted 12/26/2019 5:20 pm So I was just reading Variety Vista and came across RDVs. I honestly didn't know exactly what they were. http://www.varietyvista.com/01b%20L...arieties.htm I'm kind of confused by the list. Are the dates assigned to each RDV the "rare" varieties or are is the list just assigning each date to what RDV it's supposed to have? Because I came across a 1973 cent that looks like it has the RDV-005, when the date is listed to have the RDV- 003? Report this Post to the Staff

Tanman2001 Pillar of the Community United States 4406 Posts	Posted 12/26/2019 6:50 pm Your coin is RDV-003. The list is just all of the reverse designs known for each date and mintmark. RDV-003. That is what your coin has on it. Note it is almost the height of the whole steps area? That is what you have. For the shape on this one, it is the size that matters.
