finely after searching 10 or so boxes of cents I have found my first double die. could barely see it with all the nasty crud on the coin. just put in acetone soak I hope I get good results so I can post and get help with identification

Good luck with the acetone. When it finishes its soak, pictures would be great to identify the double die. We would be glad to help.

No longer than overnight. A wood toothpick might be useful removing some of the crud.

If there is so much crud you couldn't photograph it, how did you see a fine detail like a double die?
