Hi. I had this in my wallet for 3o years as my dad gave it to me. Looked it up today - I'm not a coin collector - and based on research I think it may be a type 2 unminted version of the coin which I believe are very rare. I am not experienced with coins but am not seeing a mint letter s or d and it seems the letter t in the USA is slanted and not blocked.
How might I get this identified valued and sold?

What do you mean by unminted? I can't really get a good look at the coin.

To the CCF!!

Your photos are too small to see any details, but from what you are describing it sounds like you have a 1976P Eisenhower dollar. There are 2 types for this year as you stated, but neither are rare by any means.

As for missing the Mint Mark. This is not the case. It is simply that Dollar coins minted in Philly in 1976 had no mint marks. This is how we know where they were minted. No MM means Philly.

Actually yes they did.

There are no Ikes dated 1975 because they minted the 1776-1976 Bicentennial Ikes for 2 years. All Ikes minted in 1975 were type 1 with thick lettering on reverse. The mint started using the Type 2 dies (Thin lettering on reverse) in early 1976 and continued to use both the type 1 and 2 dies for the remainder of 1976.

There is no way to tell if your type 1 Ike was minted in 1975 or 1976 unless it is still sealed in a mint set.

True.

However, and for what it is worth, every 1975 mint and proof set I have ever examined has had variety 1 Ikes, while every 1976 mint and proof set have had variety 2.

Your mileage may vary, but I doubt it will.
