Need help figuring out what to do with all these pennies. I have about 7000 pennies, all sorted by year and common varieties. The majority of my pennies are in the plastic bin and are sorted by year in separate envelopes and are mostly metal or zinc pennies. This collection is getting too heavy and I'm wondering if I should get rid of all the metal and zinc pennies and just keep the copper pennies. What do you guys suggest? I've searched through them all and pulled out a few interesting varieties that I know of like the 2006 errors...but aside from that is there any other reason to hold onto the metal and zinc pennies? I was thinking of rolling those up and just cashing them into the bank. Perhaps its just the copper bullion value I should be holding onto? Appreciate your input, thanks!

Look for mag/non-mag errors and then off to the bank. Or maybe post to craigslist if you want to send back to collecting community. Pretty much an inexpensive st set of bulky paperweights.

You could put together a number of date sets and donate them to kids who collect. There are a number of coin shows that offer coins to kids and are always grateful for donations.

I see lots of red, are these all uncirculated? If they are UNC I would keep them or sell them for slightly more than face value to recoup the cost of the tubes etc. Once you empty the tubes they too will become nearly worthless so then you'll just be tossing out more money. You've obviously put some work into this so don't let it go to waste just to recoup a mere $70. I did something similar a few years ago and regretted it, someone needs to save these for future generations and you've already done the hard work.
