Am I missing something? Most Nickels old and new have two "line" abbove the doorway in Monticello. One line formed by the bottom of the triangle or pyramid and the other line formed by top of the door way (the header so to speak) But I have been putting aside for a few years ones with three lines. Its spoiradic and I do not see a pattern other than I have nickels from the same dates with both displays. can someone explain?

I believe that's just part of the design for some 1990s and early 2000s nickels.

Please post the date in your heading so that we know what year we are dealing with.
Sometimes there are slight variations between years.

Jefferson nickel dies were modified numerous times since 1938 to improve for both detail and to reduce wear on both the dies and the finished product. The reverse of the most recent Jefferson nickels minted has a lot of detail while it is less raised than in the past.

Clearer pictures would be appreciated. In the meantime, have a look here: https://www2.briansvarietycoins.com...gs/view/1489

There are several variants over a number of dates, so see if this is what you have in hand. Let us know.
