vonigohcr Pillar of the Community Canada 665 Posts	Posted 01/07/2020 4:56 pm A few additional items: - 2020 $100 14K Gold 75th Anniversary of VE day - $799.95 On the RCM Website, there is a collection offer for those selecting the $1 SD and the silver proof set. You can alternately order a subscription based made up of the proof set and proof SD and a $10 coloured 75th Anniversary of Netherlands coin. Looks like a soldier being handed a bunch of tulips. The price for this coin is $39.95 so I am assuming it is based on the 34mm 1/2 oz silver planchet. A Special Edition Silver Dollar - Coloured 75th Anniversary of VE Day - Canadian Navy (the naval ensign is the coloured component) as part of a special edition proof set. It is priced at $99.95 so I am assuming this is the base metal proof set where only the 36mm dollar is silver. The ship date noted for these coins is April & May respectively. Based on the pictures on the site, the 5-cent coin in the two proof sets appears to be an update of the "V" victory nickel with updated dates though the 5-cent coin in the Unc set appears to be a standard beaver. It will be interesting to see if both are released for circulation through the course of the year. Report this Post to the Staff
commems CCF Master Historian of USA Commemoratives United States 12279 Posts	Posted 01/11/2020 1:36 pm I had a look at the 75th Anniversary of the Netherlands $10 coin and the Special Edition proof set with colourized silver dollar... To my eyes, the coloured image on the Netherlands coin looks like something straight out of a comic book - it doesn't match the style of the rest of the coin. It will be a pass for me unless the actual coin looks much, much better. In contrast, I like the SE SD that salutes the Canadian Navy. I think the colourization of the Naval Ensign looks good.
