Help With 1980 US Quarter Reverse Defect

Previously posted in US Classic and Colonial Variety and Error Coins. * Has anyone ever encountered something that looks like this? Could this just be a dramatic interior die break? Second, when we see clad coins with one or more bumps like this, we attribute that to excessive heat, such as from a propane torch (not a mint error).
