I wonder if it is a weight?

In the apothecaries' system, which was widely used in the United States until the middle of the 20th century ... (edited)
The dram apothecaries is equal to 3 scruples (s ap or #8456;) or 60 grains (gr),[2]:C-7 or
exactly 3.8879346 grams

It is certainly an apothecary's weight-the symbol is the same. There were a number of manufacturers of these weights. They tend to be to round and nicer looking than this one.
