I "rescued" this coin from a big box of mixed US and world coins today at my local show. It's got a small hole but I figured it's a decent addition to the collection for $7. Capped bust coins don't usually come my way for too cheap. The date is legible as 1831, and you'll have to take my word on that . Thanks for taking a look!

Not bad for $7. IMO I strive for the highest quality representation of a type I can afford. I think in the future you should target a VF example. Or, if it doesn't have to be a dime, a EF40 Capped Bust Half is pretty cheap, only around $150.
Rest in Peace

I'm sorry but I just can't take your word for it that the date is 1931 .

Thanks everyone. GC, this was THE nicest possible capped bust dime in the box. The others were all double holed or bent badly [B). ]T-Bop, I fixed the typo-thanks! And here's a date pic as well:

I hate those type of coins. Just guess back in those days drilling out a coin was just normal.

Lots of the coins in the box that were earlier pieces were holed. If they weren't then they were really worn or beat badly. There were just a few that showed some decent detail.
