The CT Puritan site first settled in the mid-1600's on eastern Long Island which I metal detect continues to yield coin-like discs without markings. I know this settlement has left scant material culture as I have searched clean forest floor for 100's of hours. At least this copper slice is thin unlike the 31 gram copper alloy disc I recently found here. Found my second thimble pretty close by, it's a small one. Since I have found colonial buttons, shoe buckles, 1798 and 1801 Draped Bust Cents without excessive corrosion, I have to assume this piece of copper was pretty rough when lost.
