In todays world I'd have to go with the ASE and Gold Eagle/Buffalo. The first are highly collectible worldwide and both offer tremendous profit for the counterfeiters. More so, those in China with functioning coinage presses.

From what I've seen I would have to say the 1916D Mercury dime for a number 1 spot. Followed by the 09S VDB Cent. Many of the Silver Dollars too but no where near the first ones mentioned.

Counterfeits submitted to NGC for grading:
1 - 1909 S VDB cent
2 - 1916 D dime
3 - Gold quarter eagles

The most Chinese fakes around:
Flowing Hair Dollars, Trade dollars, Morgan dollars
