This may be a common knoledge thing, but I am not sure if I have it right.
When you see a coin listed as Lincoln Cent 1992 P Close AM NGC MS62 RB pop 2/3. What is the 2/3?
Does this mean 2 in this grade with 3 in higher grades?

Thank You for your help with this.

Yea you got it right. First number is number in that grade and second is the number graded higher. For copper like your example it would only apply to that specific color designation not across all of them

hi just a mention the population reports mean not much.

coins get graded, but people 1) break them out of the holder so they can drool/fondle the raw metal coin,

2) 'mechanical error' means the information might have been entered incorrectly by clerical staff,

3) I got a poor grade so I breakout the coin and send it off again or to a different grading service;i read one account from a dealer who resubmitted the same coin up to ten times. In his article he said he had half
a draw full of old slab labels he had not sent in to be taken off the population reports !! !

when I see a number of population I lays double it since the same grade coin is possibly in different TPG's holder.

when I see a population of X number of coins in higher grades for modern / recent coins I always believe that number will treble or go five times higher within a short time span ;)

cheers and regards :)
