How does this happen? Is it common? Does anyone else own a set with this type of mint error? All other coins are in perfect condition. Including the reverse to the penny. Just the obverse appears as if it came in contact with the red ink somehow... shed some light! Thx everyone!
I'm told that's PMD. I have a mint set where something actually sliced a coin (looks like a sidecutter) in the packaging and I was told it was Post Mint Damage.
The only way it could be an error is if it happened during the striking of the coin and what you have there could not happen at that time. Some sort of PMD
