2 More 1861 Halfpennies, I suspect they are standard variety.   F and VG examples, having bought a "Instant" collection, not 100% sure of varieties as I have read 1861 Half pennies are in several types. And a very nasty farthing (pre buy in)   It probably spent 110 years in circulation! Edited by Princetane

One silver coin courtesy of the Junk silver collection - it keeps on giving. A VF Russian grivnik (10 kopecks) complete with an attempted hole.   Unlike later small denomination coins of Russia, these are 75% silver. I like this coin, a good buy for $2 or so. Important too historically as 1861 was the year the Tsar Aleksandr II freed the serfs! |

Beautiful 1862 farthings, Princetane!  Your 1861 farthing can't have spent more than 99 years in circulation as farthings were withdrawn at the end of 1960. A few 1861's from me: Farthing:  Halfpenny:  Penny (LCW below shield, L C WYON between bust and rim):   Shilling:  |

Thanks NumisRob, Guess I need to bone up one Farthing Usage and Halfpenny types - my mind has been muddled with Junk Silver, Halfcrowns and NZ for too long.
My 1860 farthing is nice too - Have shown a near EF 1863 on the British coins thread.
