Many beautiful coins there, @Princetane!

Here's another silvery piece: France 5 francs 1960. First year with regular issues of the new franc and 5 francs being the only coin made of silver. It shows the "soweress" (la semeuse), the design being identical with the original one from 1897 and which had not been used on coins since 1920.

Thanks erafjel!

I only have 2 1960 coins worth showing (I have shown enough Kiwi ones for now and my Aussie and GB ones are a bot worn).

My second coin is another Jersey 1/12 shilling (Penny) coin

It celebrates the Restoration of Charles II in 1660 and the fact Philip Carteret of Jersey announced his complete loyalty to him and NOT Louis XIV of France.

The channel Islands had been back and forth between France and England since Norman days - but had been nominally English since the 1200s. The French tried to invade as late as 1748 and even now there are disputes between French and English fishermen over some islands closer to France.

This coin is a decent high EF grade.

You will find my 1950s coins are more worn and there are less of them, but some years like 1953 you will see a few more.

I don't have too many nice coins from the 1950s, my collection will spike up again, once we reach the 40s and their silver coins.

The 6d's big brother, a one shilling of 1959. Between 1954 and 1960 this was the highest value coin issued in New Zealand.

Example is VF and worn from circulation. You can see soem of the grass fronds on the warrior's skirt are flat. Compare this to my gleaming 1963 coin!
