Also, while it doesn't affect the progress of this thread, @tdz has rightly pointed out that my recently-posted Gros is not actually datable to 1433 AD, but rather the range of 1419 to 1428 AD. Sorry about that...

Quote: to confirm the date Can you trace the 5 on the photo? It looks uncomfortably like a 2 or 3 to me. I believe the 5 should be a tilted E shape. If the date checks out, we shouldn't have any further gaps until 1415, I think. Good thing I bothered to make an extended gap listing four months ago. ("I stopped here [1429] for now because I'm not sure if we really need data past this point" - me, on January 25th, about a point that we might well reach next week if nothing goes wrong. Though AFAIK there's still about 20 gaps between that and my next entry at 1387.) I should probably write an updated list of the 15th and 14th century gaps (probably again ending at 1307) - a few had been filled since my previous listing, especially in the 15th century, and several that were already filled acquired backup examples.

Quote: Can you trace the 5 on the photo? It looks uncomfortably like a 2 or 3 to me. I believe the 5 should be a tilted E shape. The 5 is not always in that orientation. Here is an example (AH854) https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?p...y=d&way=desc (AH845) https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?p...y=d&way=descI will try to get some better pictures tonight. In hand, there doesn't appear to be the downward stroke on the left that would be a 3. However, now that I've traced it, you can tell that it does tilt forward (to the left, or rotated ccw) a bit more than the example above.

I think @j1m might be right. Will update with pictures later . Next time I'll get more eyes on a questionable date before posting here, sorry.

Updated gap list, 1432 to 1308. I'm ignoring coins posted by Grinya, because it's currently extremely unlikely that he could show up here again. (I'm not going past 1308 because 707 AH = 1307/8 AD is the first ambiguity of the AH/AD conversion where we don't have other coins to plug it up in another way, and past that we have very few dates anyway. I'd be very surprised if we make it to 1308 anytime remotely soon; even 1350 looks unlikely.) 1432 (AH 835) - apparently none found (bd251's coin turned out to be a different date?) 1431 - Spence 1430 - bd251 1429 - bd251, Spence 1428 - tdziemia 1427 - Spence, tdziemia 1426 - Spence 1425 - bd251 1424 - bd251 1423 - Spence 1422 - Spence 1421 - Spence 1420 - Spence 1419 - Spence, tdziemia 1418 - bd251 1417 - Spence 1416 - bd251 1415 (AH 818) - none found 1414 - erafjel 1413 - erafjel 1412 - JohnConduitt 1411 - Spence 1410 (AH 813) - none found 1409 - JohnConduitt, tdziemia 1408 (AH 811) - none found ! http://goccf.com/t/364499&whichpage=461#38537301407 - tdziemia 1406 (AH 809) - none found 1405 - JohnConduitt, Spence, tdziemia 1404 (AH 806) - none found 1403 - tdziemia 1402 to 1399 (AH 804 to 801) - none found 1398 - JohnConduitt 1397 to 1384 (AH 799 to 796) - none found 1393 - tdziemia 1392 to 1388 (AH 794 to 790) - none found 1387 - january1may 1386 - JohnConduitt 1385 - EddieDiz 1384 - tdziemia 1383 - EddieDiz, JohnConduitt, Spence 1382 - Collects82 1381 (AH 783) - none found 1380 - JohnConduitt 1379 to 1377 (AH 781 to 779) - none found 1376 - tdziemia 1375 - Spence 1374 - january1may 1373 - tdziemia 1372 (AH 773) - none found 1371 (AH 772) - none found 1370 - JohnConduitt 1369 - JohnConduitt 1368 to 1366 (AH 769 to 767) - none found 1365 - JohnConduitt 1364 (AH 765) - none found 1363 - JohnConduitt, tdziemia 1362 - JohnConduitt 1361 - JohnConduitt 1360 - JohnConduitt 1359 - JohnConduitt 1358 - JohnConduitt 1357 (AH 758) - Spence's coin is apparently unclear in attribution? Unfortunately I can no longer add to my own collection in this range (unless I get ridiculously lucky). I hope the political situation eventually allows me to revisit my old collection, and/or start adding more 14th century coins.

I remember the first edition being stuck on 1491. At that time I could not imagine we would ever be sitting on 1432. It is an impressive journey when you look back at the road behind us.
