I've always collected coins. Love metal detecting. Just a few months ago I realized that many coins have errors but unless it's a real obvious error they are hard to see. I bought myself a microscope and started taking a closer look. My first find was a 1942 d/horz d nickel (pic below). Since then all I've found were coins with Machine Doubling.... Until today.

I think...

Are any of the coins below doubled... Or have a rpm.

Coins pictured below not in any order;

1996 d half Dollar

2000 p Sacagawea

1964 p nickel

1972 d half Dollar

1997 p nickel

1984 p nickel

1981 p nickel

I'm just trying to get a feel for what doubling actually looks like. And rpms. Thanks

RPMs can't exist on coins minted after 1989 because they stopped adding the mintmark separately after that year. Check out variety vista for examples. If your coin isn't listed there, odds are it's not an RPM.

The 1942-D/D horizontal is very nice. A tough find for sure.

After reading more on Machine Doubling... It's looks like what I've found.

I guess I better keep hunting!!

Thanks!
