Here is the newest addition to my collection. I also purchased the 1863 edition of Ira Mayhew's Book-Keeping Textbook. Working in that industry and having a Masters in Accounting, I had a strange draw to this. I am going to try to figure out how to display both in a frame for my office...still trying to figure this out.

There are some college scrip notes out there somewhere, that were used in his class, that would make this an even better display...and I am on the hunt for them. If anyone comes across one, let me know.

You're a collector after my own heart. I've long loved finding such go-alongs, making historical connections/

There was a CWTS member, Sterling Rachooten, who coined the term "scripmates" to define CW era notes that were issued in conjunction with an issuer's tokens. While I've not seen any Mayhew scrip, I've been fortunate to find a number of other scripmate notes. Best wishes in your hunt, Mint-Marq.

I am truly sorry if I offended anyone or broke a community rule with my last post. My intention was to help one of your members who ,in January, said he was looking for a particular piece for his collection. I am not a store, dealer, or in the business of selling items. I always read and respect posting rules on BBS. Since there was no explanation as to why the post was removed, I will try to share the image again. If that is the problem, please let me know.

to the CCF ....

@ancbob .... Been there, done that, says this oldtimer!

Despite its ragged condition, that Michigan note is a cool scripmate for the CWT. Neat that it was signed by Mayhew, too. Some scripmates can be found unsigned. Notes like this help place a token in the context of its time. Like the token, the scrip was a money substitute during hard-pressed economic times. I look forward to more of your posts!

Sorry...I have been away from the community for a month or so. That scrip note is awesome.

Thank you ancbob for sharing that image. That is exactly what I am looking for to tie in with the token and book. Especially with the 1863 date.

I have not seen one before, so now I have some search terms to use to setup a saved ebay search. Maybe one day

So cool. Thanks again for sharing.
