Hi, tooboocoo. To me, it looks like the earlobe took a hit which pushed the top layer inward/towards the cheek leaving underneath the original sized earlobe and that simulated like a split serif/doubled ear.

Have you by chance looked at the example they have on variety vistas site they resemble each other an awful lot it's a long shot being g nicked in the same spot as the doubled ear lobe but I guess possible in some strange way thanks for looking

The mintmark shape is nothing like the DDO-001:

The punch was damage on the lower 1/3 on the Upright of the 'D' on the 001. The OP's coin is not distorted there.
