Hi
I think this has been asked before, but I can't find any answers!
How do people store the George III Cartwheel twopence?
I normally use Lighthouse Quadrums, which so far have managed every coin I have from 10 to 40mm, and although they do have a 41mm, it is nowhere near deep enough.
My cartwheel came in a huge plastic sleeve, way bigger than the coin, which isn't very satisfactory (and may contain PVC). I normally avoid flips for fear of damaging the coins, not that it would fit in those either.
Thank you!

You need 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 Mylar cardboard flips.
Rims still subject to damage under the Mylar. Cut several layers of clear stiff PVA sheet (recovered from packaging used for food or toys or tools, etc), and cut a hole in them, 1mm greater than the copper Twopence. Cut the 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 in half, and staple the whole assembly together, with the coin inside.
2 1/2 x 2 1/2 pocket album pages are available, but in this case, they should not be made out of soft PVC --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The copper used for the 'cartwheel' Twopence is soft, and the rims are especially subject to impact damage.
If the coin condition is sufficiently high enough grade, (and thus valuable enough) to justify grading fees, it could go into a slab. Question:- Do they make slabs big enough to handle such large coins?

I use the Leuchtturm caps. You can get them in a wide range of sizes up to 76mm, and can also come with foam insert rings, if those help. The larger ones are thick enough to close securely over the Twopence. Available from Amazon, but probably elsewhere too.

Great, thank you. I'll give those a try!

To answer the earlier question, my 2 pence cartwheel is in a regular-sized slab.

i find that adapting a 38mm coin tray section fits the cartwheel securely, just stretch the sectin a little and it fits in superbly

I am silly, I have mine in a 2 x 2 Mylar flip and its fits quite comfortably - but I doubt it will last long there!
It's more this coin's thickness than its diameter!
I have 2 larger coins - a Papua New Guinea 10 Kina (45mm and 41 grams) and a Tonga 2 Pa'anga - 42mm - fortunately both are in cases!

2x2 cardboard Mylar flips do not provide the level of protection that the soft pure copper rims of a cartwheel twopence coin require. The rims of these coins bruise very easily, and those without edge bruises command a substantial premium.
As such, any extra protection becomes mandatory.
