In Mr. Wexler's opinion the 1993 D is nothing more the Die Deterioration Doubling. I am perplexed by his attribution but it is what it is. What are your thoughts?

Does make some sense. There is weird distortion/incuse-ridge around the lettering. I did find a 1993 Philly cent with similar extra thickness in the past week, I was looking out for one of these because of your post. I thought it was weird I found a similar coin so quickly after you posted yours.

Yes it is tanman. Kinda blows me and coops thoughts the reverse die was fresh.
