Would somebody in the Coin Community be able to provide some kind of grade and value to the attached 1910 Australia shilling? Frank

My guess is AU58.
Value wise about $100 I'd say

Very close to, but not quite uncirculated.
nUnc (British grading), somewhere between
AU-55 and AU-58 (Sheldon grading).

Obv.:- Very slight wear under the patina on the end of the mustache, and on the beard between that and the earlobe.

Rev.:- Very slight wear under the patina, indicated by rounding on the high points of the emu's feathers, the center of the star above the shield, and a lack of definition in the kangaroo's head.

One year type 1910 Shillings of Edward V11 are quite scarce in this condition, and are reasonably sought after.

One could argue this PR66 proof coin https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Austral...cectupt=true is only a AU55 or AU58 given the apparent wear on it - worn star above the shield, flat areas on the emu etc. I think it has more to do with the strike - the inconsistencies then as compared to now.

I will take your word about it being a proof, but
I have problem with the star above the shield.

The obverse has no wear on the ORB,which is the highest point. So obverse is Unc-ms60-62..The reverse has what looks like friction wear on the emu and roo's sholder. Reverse has a couple of rim nicks. Cannot tell buy the pick if top part of the reverse rim has any wear..AU/58+ and ms 60-61 on a good day..A coin can still make Unc with only minimal friction wear...
