Hi all

Well, the description on the NGC label says "Mint Error" and "Strike-Thru".

I understand that a strike thru coin means something got between the planchet and the die?

If so, anybody want to hazard a guess as to what this is... the foreign object, item, substance, or whatever it is?

Whatever it is, it sure seems a gold-plated or covered whatever-it-might-be. I know very little about strike-thru coin, so I thought maybe some of you more experienced in this area might be able to identify, or at least give a fair guess as to what it is.

thanks... mike

Thanks guys, it sure looks like a rim burr, even tho that is the first time I ever heard of it, not being familiar with error coins.

I guess the roundness of the burr is a big clue... like what the roundness of the rim looks like. Good enough for me.

I guess it is a pretty common error if it has it's own term.

thanks again... mike
