Quote: Keyword Ugly. This one in my personal opinion, and if I may presume, in the opinions of others is attractive. I don't care in the slightest of you dip ugly grey and black morgans, or lightly toned yellowish or hazy ones. But leave these well alone. LOL, don't worry. When I see one this nice, I pass it by. I only become a toning terrorist on lower coins I crack/buy and place in my album. I just don't get the toning crave, I love a nice, clean coin. Fortunately, I have this one as an MS65, clean.

Looks like I may have been a little conservative on the grade at 64, but I always am with toners that I can't see in hand. Regardless, this piece has that balance of no distracting marks and beautiful toning.....the actual grade is immaterial. 82-S is known for that 'deep dish' luster that just makes the color pop, I think that you have a really special one here. And no worries about the toning changing over time, it's been removed from the original source that caused the toning and is actually far more stable (and original) than anything that's been made blast white again. Very nice pickup, Grapes.

Apparently it's better in hand. I know the seller. He is VERY strict on morgans, if the slab says 64 and he thinks it's a 63, he's pricing it as a 63. He stated that he believes it to be accurately graded. He says in hand the obverse is a strong MS68, with no bag marks except a few very minor markings. He says there are a few tiny strike thrus (which they are). He says the reverse is a 66. He thinks a 67 is a fair split grade to which I agree. For the record the strike thrus appear to be grit, but it is minor and not distracting.
