i also think you are a little low in your assessment. the stars date and rims on the obverse are telling me that you have a weaker strike which is going to affect the lower reliefs. the reverse is XF imo adding to the strike issue. the overall look of the coin is pleasing and nothing stands out that it was ever touched although there is what appears a little porosity in the planchet on the obverse along the length of the left stars but this could be either the photo or angle of the coin but it wouldn't affect the grade. you have a nice coin and if the strike was a little stronger I would have it at XF40 but we'll conservatively go with the others at VF35

Sorry guys. Nice looking coin, but a VF20 all day long. I do love the way these coins wear, though.

Technically it is closer to 20 but with market grading (and blemish free surfaces/rims) it's closer to 35. Here's a PCGS Trueview from Coinfacts of a VF25 for reference:

VF-30 - Way above average eye appeal if the photos are a good representation of the coin.

I see the reverse way better than the PCGS coin and the verse slightly better so VF30 is my guess.

BH, I don't market grade. I don't believe in it. Market grading is what you use if you're selling. The true grade of a coin is the technical grade. I understand that this is not a popular opinion, but market grading allows a coin's condition to actually improve over time and we all know that is not possible. The Sheldon scale was developed to take the guesswork out of grading. If market grading is still a consideration in technical grading then we may as well throw out the point scale and use terms like, "great condition for its age" and be done with it. I don't think any of us want that.

I'm sorry if this comes off as abrasive but market grading has been a sore spot with me for a very long time. Please don't take any of this personally. I have the utmost respect for you and the knowledge you share here.
