Not sure what you're asking. A 1943 cent SHOULD stick to a magnet. Are you sure of that weight?

If it sticks to a magnet then it's a steel cent. Probably plated with copper in an attempt to fool someone. I believe 2.6 grams is the correct weight for a steel cent. A pro will chime in shortly.

Not sure why it wouldn't be real, a very common coin.

@Mrph12- If it were a copper cent it would weigh 3.1 grams and not be magnetic.

I hear a lot about the 1943 wheat cents, but not sure what makes one so valuable. This is my very first 1943 Wheat cent. So it's a keeper for me.

I think I understand your confusion MRPH12 the 43 wheat that would be worth a lot would be one accidentally minted on a copper blank. These would be considered a valuable error since they were not officially supposed to exist. Sometimes people have taken the more common steel and plated them in order to make fakes.

The 1943 cents that were struck on copper planchets and the 1944 cents struck on steel cents are the valuable ones:

There were struck on left over planchets from the previous year.
