Look at the manufacturer's site for support.

I'm using Capture one 12 with a Nikon Z7. I see that the D3400 is supported, but it looks like tethered shooting with live view is not supported.

Have you tried digiCamControl? It's free, and it works with the D3400 for tethered shooting.

Can you do tethered shooting with enlarged live-view focusing on the PC screen?

i think it will be fine after messing with it a bit but this is one quick photo without light box and its nice because you can adjust all elements of camera from usb. Just remember no light box and very first time using program lol.

@ pepactonius, does feel wierd but the live view works well I say weird because I have a 32 inch curved monitor and see it that size was wierd but you can size it down in the window and I enabled hardware acceleration seemed it helped lag a bit.

DigiCamControl is open source... so if it doesn't do what you want, you can make changes...

Not for quite a while, actually. I got it working for MY needs and submitted the patches. Since it still works for my needs I haven't updated to the latest in maybe a year...
It was one of those things where once you cracked the mental map of how it was structured, the individual pieces of code were actually very simple.
