I've done a ton of research on this coin & have yet to find anything matching it. However, what I do know is:

*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

- It's silver
- It's a 1941/42.....Or at least that's the impression I got from the 2 that's located underneath the date, between the 4&1.

- Wartime mint mark located just below the Monticello steps. At least it appears to be a "large "D" mint mark", the same found on the 1942-1945 Wartime nickels.

And furthermore, it appears to be a RPM. Magnified x10 and D/S/P becomes easily visible and......

.....Well, that's all I have.

Any ideas? If so, please comment & share. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Normal '41 with some disgusting stuff on the reverse. That isn't a mint mark, just some gunk or something stuck to the coin.

Mintmarks for the silver nickels were above the dome of Monticello, not below the steps.

Production of War Nickels didn't start until some months into 1942. So there were no War Nickel planchets available in 1941, and all of the 1941 dies would have been long destroyed before the War Nickel planchet production began.

What makes you think the planchet is silver? It looks like coppernickel.
