Depends on what you reveal under what was removed.

Couldn't say it better. Often the surface underneath is lighter than the rest of the coin.

If properly administered it should be no problem .

Must disagree - surfaces below crud will often be lighter than surrounding fields, especially on older coins.

Might also depend on who does the grading.

It depends on how badly the crud and Verdigris was on the coin submitted . I've never submitted a Verdi-Care applied coin , but I never had a personal problem with a coin that had light crud & verdigris turning lighter than surrounding fields .

If I recall correctly, when BadThad was developing it he submitted a 1909 S VDB that he had used verdicare (or was it verdigone?) on and it graded straight.

Someone with better search skills can surely find it.

The issue isn't the substance itself, it's the final result after using it. What was removed, what does it look like under there, is the color different, is there corrosion etc. There's no right answer other than sometimes it'll straight grade and other times it won't. It all just depends on the final result of the individual coin

Here are a couple previous ccf threads with lots of info and pics:

Looks to me like the answer is maybe as it will depend on the underlying coin somewhat.
