When looking at the mint mark on this nickel, is that an "S" above the "D" or just a squiggly line? I can't tell if it's raised or not.

But the coin does have some value. One of the lower mintage nickels. It was announced that they were striking less of these that year and people saved rolls of them. So the BU value is almost the same as circulated value for them. (2.6M) 1951-D had 20M.
