Do you think this coin will grade and therefore count as a true lowball? I'm pretty sure I can make out 1901 on this coin but let's see what you guys think.

Any other comments are welcome, I got this on a popular auction site with some other nickels and dimes.

P.s apologies to anyone with a weak stomach for hot pink!

Thanks again,

It's possible but not sure if TPG will recognize it as a 1 or any other number .

If you can definitely see the ghost of the final date digit in hand then it can indeed be uniquely identified. Keep in mind however that in order to be certified as a true lowball it also needs to be judged as having original surfaces (i.e., not cleaned or artificially 'manufactured').

If both are the case then this example should come back TPG PO01.

It might make a PO1 grade if the date can be confirmed,
if not it can't be graded.

Yeah, that's a tough one to judge from the picture. Might have better luck in hand with a loop.

If you adjust the photo, the top curl of the "1" can be identified. Since the third digit is clearly a zero, the only possible date is 1901. Here's an enhanced portion of your photo of the date area.

I think you have a decent shot at PO-01.

Thanks for all the replies and good work fortcollins!

I think I'll try to get it graded soon. It'll be my first entry and I'm in the UK, so any advice?
