I have been waiting for a place to post this coin .

It is struck off center , but what I'm wondering about is the split in the plachet running from the bottom about 1/3 of the way through the coin Is this common or is it not so common ?

metalman, you will see this anomily on a lot of the older coinage. I think it is, or was an alloy issue. I had some off-center, and several cracks in a bag of coins, (100 pesos, 1986),
for change in the grocery store we had in Los Mochis, Sin. Mex. I have several othe denominations with the same problem. One actually split apart.

Nice piece, but it looks more like a mis-aligned die.

Teasure since both obverse and reverse are off ,its more than likely struck off center .

if just one of the sides was off that would be a strong indication of a die alignment error .

Howeever, a nice planchet crack, and not too common.

I also like how you can see a different style of "8" for the last digit in the date--it's a wider punch.
This suggests the last digit was added somewhere in the die process for this year.
