Metalman Pillar of the Community United States 7123 Posts	Posted 10/17/2008 03:41 am I have been waiting for a place to post this coin . It is struck off center , but what I'm wondering about is the split in the plachet running from the bottom about 1/3 of the way through the coin Is this common or is it not so common ? livingdinasaur Pillar of the Community United States 1571 Posts	Posted 10/18/2008 01:03 am metalman, you will see this anomily on a lot of the older coinage. I think it is, or was an alloy issue. I had some off-center, and several cracks in a bag of coins, (100 pesos, 1986), for change in the grocery store we had in Los Mochis, Sin. Mex. Metalman Pillar of the Community United States 7123 Posts	Posted 10/25/2008 4:04 pm Teasure since both obverse and reverse are off ,its more than likely struck off center . if just one of the sides was off that would be a strong indication of a die alignment error . Report this Post to the Staff

KurtS Pillar of the Community United States 5318 Posts	Posted 11/18/2008 2:04 pm I also like how you can see a different style of "8" for the last digit in the date--it's a wider punch. This suggests the last digit was added somewhere in the die process for this year. Report this Post to the Staff
