Hi folks. I started collecting the Silver Maple Leafs. Was wondering if I'm wasting my money buying these or should I gear my collecting to older or different coins? I collect the Maple Leafs because I think they are a gorgeous coin but also for (hopefully) investment. Can anyone give me any insight?

I doubt these coins will have much collector value because of the amount minted in all dates. Canadian coins that have maintained or increased in value the best are the Victorian series of coins. There, anything in VF20 or above is in low supply. For Victorian 1c coins, it appears about 1% or less of all minted coins have survived. And you can figure about 2/3 (or more?) of them grade less than VF20. For 25c coins the survival rate is even lower. And so many of them grade VG8 or less. Other things that will hold or grow in value are high grade coins of KGVI to QE II Tiara portrait. For shorter term gains, then bullion may be a good choice....

I like them, but I like the Lunar series and Kooks better.

I have a few of these and think they are absolutely beautiful. they are dependent upon the price of silver though when considering their total value.

I just bought 2 tubes (50 coins) of Silver Maples today. They are a better value for premium silver bullion that the American Eagles. The have the special 2010 Olympic Logo on it.

Why does it have the Titanic on it? In any case, very nice coin!

Actually the silver maple leafs are worth getting. The all have low mintages...namely the 1996 and 1997 issues.

I like them. Sometimes it is about the beauty too. I bought the zodiac set of maple leafs. I love the one for year of the rabbit. As for why the titanic is on the above coin? I have no idea. I tried looking it up and found values for that particular coin but no reasoning behind a titanic coin for 1998.

This site will show how Canada was affected by this terrible tragedy.

Hello everyone.

1sikevo I like your gallery. The gold coin is really beautiful.
Where do you find your silver maples, if you don't mind me asking.

I buy most of mine on e-bay. I have paid more than I should have for some and I've gotten real good deals on others.
