These next few coins are pretty boring, common dates, but then again I am submitting in the order I bought them. The grade I assigned them is the grade I thought at the time, nearly 4 years ago, and I may have changed my mind since. So what is your opinion?

Thank you folks, I appreciate you letting me submit my collection. As I said in an earlier post, I started collecting silver dollars about 4 years ago, most won through ebay auctions. It's a long story and I already explained my doings in earlier posts, so I don't want to bore everyone again repeating what I already said. But I'm trying to learn, and I think I have, and am learning more through every silver dollar I submit. Already of my first 20 that you folks have commented on and graded, I've reassessed and regraded 5 already based on your comments. One I've decided to sell for sure, the others I will keep but change grades and assumed values in my Silver Dollar database. Thank you all!

Why are you asking me if it's ok? I just wanted to know if your going to post all 250 coins.

Actually here is a good example. This is a very common date Peace dollar, you can get these for a little over melt. It being AU 50 or XF 40 don't impair value. It's still going to be worth around $15-$18.

In this example I would say AU 50 but it has strong marks so if you try to sell it, it probably won't get any premium. Knowing it's grade is one thing, value is also inherent on condition, eye appeal and collectibility. Unless this was an MS 65, it's value won't change more than melt. So posting a lot of coins and asking for a grade doesn't really give you a lot of feedback on its value. I'm not trying to bash or discredit. You have some nice ones and some not so nice, but most of what you posted will have limited value over melt. Just my 2 cents.

hfjacinto ....... I guess I took your question wrong, thought it was like ......... are you really going to show all 250 (emphasis on the really)?

I'm glad you're OK with it.

But while I'm replying to your comment, I'd like to ask. You said that you can get these for little over melt, $15 to $18. I've read other comments on my coins and other peoples coins from other folks with the same sort of comments .... you can buy these at melt or just a bit over. So as a regular type person that collects some silver dollars as I do, where exactly can you buy XF or AU 50 silver dollars near melt? I am not a coin dealer, nor am I a pawn shop. I imagine that they buy coins at those prices, but the average Joe like me? I'm not trying to be a smart Alec here, but I'd like to know.

As far as I do know, if I go to a dealer, an antique shop, or a pawn shop, they are all considerably at retail or above, and even haggling isn't going to get you melt or near melt. Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist or ebay ...... well that's what I do but unless you are buying somebody's lot of 5 or 10 or more coins, you're not getting them at melt or near melt, even worn out lots of 10 or more are averaging $20 or more a coin. And usually when you buy a lot like that, you will be hard pressed to get many nice coins. They usually bundle what you might think of as culls with one or two better coins to peak your interest. And single coins, even the most common dates you can rarely get for much less that melt + 50%. So again, not trying to be a wise guy, but surely would appreciate some education at buying more silver dollars for my collection and the bargain prices some folks here say they can be had for.

And one other thing I noticed. The picture you linked of the 1934 D is not a very common date, like a 1922 0r 23 or others might be, and the condition of this coin you linked is pretty darn nice. I'd be doing summer-salts if I could buy that near melt.

I'm in NJ the local coin shop sells the common date Peace dollars for $17 (see below) and Morgans for $18-$20.

I can only tell you about where I live but I've been to lots of the country and in each place I can generally find coins for good prices. Kauai maybe harder (when I was there 4 years ago) as it's not a cheap place. Maybe check out Oahu or when you get to the
West coast pick up a few. I found great prices in San Diego and nearby Seattle.

I would skip ebay as they have to tack on 20% for fees/ shipping etc.

Honestly your best bet is to find a coin shop someplace like in NJ, Florida, Indiana, or Ohio (I actually bypass ebay and go right to the shop) and order from them.

PM me I can tell you where I shop.

Ok I was confused, that's not my link. When you type in like a coin name ( Indian Head cent or Morgan dollar ) cff automatically creates a link to an information page.

One other comment, when you are local, it's really easy to pick through the "junk" coins looking for values. With so many Peace dollars and Morgans on the east coast and with them barely circulating you can get some great examples at low cost. I recently completed the Bison Nickels (Im confusing cff as bison nickels won't crest a link) and I picked up 75% from the "junk" drawer. That's why people are surprised some of us can do an album for cheap. It's all about the hunt.

With Peace dollars I was only able to get the early common date 20's for $17, most of the S/D mint marked coins where poor like you stated so for those I had to pay more but in the completed series of1921 to 1935 only 4 cost more than $50. All others were $17 to $40, with most in high AU for $20.

Actually hfjacinto, I don't live on Kauai. I used to have a condo there ...... well actually just a 3 week a year timeshare condo, and that's where I picked up my KauaiHawaiiGuy handle. But I do live in the Northwest, Oregon to be more precise, and the only $17 to $20 silver dollars you're going to pick up around here are culls.

But if you've read some of my earlier posts you may have read that I buy these with funny money anyway. I sell whatever on ebay, and turn those PayPal funds into silver dollars ..... and I enjoy it. So if I've paid too much for some dollars, it isn't real money in my book anyway.

I was in Seattle for vacation in August, we stopped here on the way to Chateau st. Michelle, great prices.

Redmond Rare Coins LLC

And then get some wine. Take the wife both will be happy :)

I did read your comment on found money, but money is still money :) If I can get Peace dollars for cheaper and pay cash, it's a consideration.

First I need to say, I do appreciate your tip about Redmond Rare Coins, but that's still 6 hours one way to Kirkland from the middle of the Willamette Valley in Oregon, (and that's assuming I hit a lucky patch where it doesn't take 3 hours between Olympia WA to Kirkland going through the madness of Tacoma and Seattle). Two months ago it took 3 1/2 hours to go 80 miles on I-5 through that.

And unless I happen to be there for some other reason, adding a night in a motel, gas for 700 miles, a couple of lunches, a dinner and breakfast for two and 14 hours on the road, suddenly the $25 bucks I'll save on a few common date silver dollars makes each coin $75 or $100 bucks.

I do appreciate the tip though, really, I mean that, but I think I would need to be buying some of their "rare" coins as their name implies, not common date Morgan and Peace dollars to make it pay.
