Maybe but it seems odd to me it would be just in that spot and the letter being deformed

Well its either that or a struck though grease, but either way nothing uncommon for those coins.

Looking like Die Deterioration to me. Making the letters US.U to the right of the torch handle, look mushy and blended together, but not missing.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
