recent purchase. I would like Grading opinions and some insight about the MDC on the obverse. if more pics are needed I will have this coin in a few days. thanks!   |

I'd say AU-58, questionable color. Nice obverse clashes, they look consistent with the reverse die rather than an MDC.

Nice obverse clash. With the pics shown I say dipped and rubbed with cloth AU58+ details. Contact wear on right wreath, right middle of shield. Feather tips look like die wear but hair under BE of Liberty and hair under head dress is wear. No cartwheels or luster. Still a nice coin, I have several like it in my 2nd set of commons in lieu of straight grades since the price was about 30% and I liked them. Look forward to seeing in hand pics.

I'm sticking with AU-58, although very close to MS. I think the color looks okay with the new photos.

AU58, because of the wear on the top feathers, always the first place I look, future reference, hope that helps. Possibly cleaned as stated above, luster seems good but color is off in the photos, hard to tell not in hand, and I have trouble capturing color on Indian cents as well, not sure why. |
