I'm a bit confused when it comes to the greysheet. Every time my friend gives me one it only includes a price guide for Morgan dollars and bullion coins.

My question is: Where can I find a greysheet that includes all types of coins? -PP

I think greysheet comes out quarterly and each issue has specific types of coins. I think thats weird.

A few months ago, my local dealer gave me some copies and I was looking though them for some of my coins and they weren't listed in there. I asked him why only certain coins were featured. He told me that they do it in a certain order, he wasn't sure why.

that is correct, you can order just grey sheets for specific types of coins (I think so anyway). I know that they have certain coins in each one that comes out because someone used to send me their copies when they were done with them awhile back and they got all of them but if I am not mistaken you can choose which ones you would like to receive

Thanks Fred, I figured it out.

Do those of you who prescribe to the greysheet notice any noticeable price jumps between quarterly or even monthly issues? If so how major are the differences in price? -PP

In reality there is really no one else out there. Only you and me and I never answer anyone. All the other names you see for answers are really a machine that is programed to make you feel your not alone but you really are. I too am only a machine.
The thing is not everyone gets or uses the grey sheet and many that do just once in a while.
PS. Everyone else is watching the football games.

The weekly wipe is nothing but fiction. It's called the coin dealer newsletter, and is sold to anyone who wants it. I can remember paying $600 a month for teletype, only to have someone who spends a couple thousand a year on coins whip out a greysheet and tell me what he was gonna pay for stuff. I'd just tell them I'd be happy to work with them as soon as they either showed me their shop or paid my overhead.

By fiction, here's an example. At one point there was a major teletype dealer with a standing order for 2000 74 brown packs at $47.50. We were paying $40 and having them drop-shipped to him. All this took place on open teletype trading. At no point did the weekly wipe ever show them higher than $20.

Manipulation also works the other way. It just depends who has what and how they promote/demote an issue.

The bid/ask is supposed to be the high dealer buy offer and low dealer sell offer to other dealers. Ask yourself this: Why would a dealer sell a coin for less than bid if there are open buy offers for that coin by another dealer at bid? Do you see any dealers offering to sell their silver coins for less than the refinery pays for them?

Pennypusher,

I don't subscribe to the Greysheet, so I cannot answer your specific question. However, I might recommend that you purchase their special "$13.75 Pack." That has the 7 most recent issues that cover all the series. I get this twice a year, since the yearly subscription rate is a bit steep for my purposes.

I find it a useful resource, but don't need it weekly.

Use the monthly for most, then the quarterlies for the more unusual types of coins.
