Hi Jayt03 and

Even in uncirculated condition, 1971 British half, one and two pence coins are worth very little. That was the year decimal currency was introduced, and hundreds of millions of the new coins were stockpiled ready to go into circulation on 15th February, 1971. Even today the 1971 1p and 2p coins are extremely common in circulation, and circulated examples are worth only face value. Unfortunately, an ill-informed journalist on a tabloid paper wrote an article a few years ago saying that 1971 1p coins were valuable, and this seems to have started people trying to sell them on ebay for ridiculous sums.

Tabloid papers have a lot to answer for!

They need to be more responsible with the garbage they print, sometimes it easier when they go back to making up lies about Michael Jackson, Diana and Meghan.

Welcome to the forum.

To give you an idea of values, the Spink 2020 catalogue values for 1971 1/2p, 1p and 2p coins in FDC condition are £2 each.

FDC = fleur de coin, in otherwords, absolute perfection such as is found in a proof set. Nothing taken from circulation will be this good.

Catalogue values are only a general guide, around what you might expect to pay from a reputable dealer. ebay prices depend on all sorts of things, including the honesty of the seller and the gullibility of the buyer.
