Check this one out. The previous owner just tossed in an old ziplock bag with a bunch of other miscellaneous Canadian oddities. At first, it caught my eye as a "well-circulated off metal", and at first glance it does not look like much. That is, until you see the edge of the coin. In 1968, the Philadelphia Mint was contracted to strike Canadian nickel 10 coins. This is a US clad 10-cent planchet, struck by the Canadian dies, at the Philly mint. I know of only one other, sold in 2006 in Heritage auctions. https://coins.ha.com/itm/canada/wor...419-50768.s? Seems like it is not well struck, difference in metal, different pressure needed to fill devices.
Awesome error coin, thanks for posting. Love that copper edge.

Quote: Very nice find R! Indeed M. But, the coin is not mine, I am helping a friend out with a massive error collection. Besides, you know me, I don't collect 10c coins.

So why is this considered so rare , there where over 85 million struck at the US mint , is it an incorrect planchet
