We bought a collection at work today. Included were 24 of these. Would be a change of pace and looks good in proof silver. What do you all think?

Is it the actual size of the dime? Interesting!

Haha! When I first read this, I thought you had actual trials from the mint.
I thought the entire "replacing XXXXXX with Reagan" fad died in 2005. Anyways, it would always be cool to see out current coins get a more modern makeover.

I would rather have a classic design than any politician...

That is a nice-looking obverse, but shouldn't a Reagan Dime merit a new reverse design?
Nancy Reagan's 2¢ 10¢ about this:
Ted Barrett CNN Washington Bureau Friday, December 5, 2003 Posted: 10:40 PM EST (0340 GMT) WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Congressional Republicans are pushing a bill to honor former President Reagan by putting his profile on the dime.
But Democrats intent on keeping the existing image of former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt oppose the idea.
Former first lady Nancy Reagan is siding with the Democrats.
"While I can understand the intentions of those seeking to place my husband's face on the dime, I do not support this proposal and I am certain Ronnie would not," she said in a brief statement issued in Los Angeles Friday night.
"When our country chooses to honor a great president such as Franklin Roosevelt by placing his likeness on our currency, it would be wrong to remove him and replace him with another.
"It is my hope that the proposed legislation will be withdrawn." Mrs. Reagan's statement concluded.

ach.. I remember seeing on CoinWorld a possibility of making a bimetallic Reagan $2 coin. It won't get any circulation, but hey, at least it's a new coin Ah! Here it is. Note the bottom, where there is a claim about how this coin would be better than the $2 note that we have now. http://www.coinworld.com/news/reaga...8/reagan.asp

Quote: "When our country chooses to honor a great president such as Franklin Roosevelt by placing his likeness on our currency, it would be wrong to remove him and replace him with another. And it is thinking like that that has saddled us with the dull designs we have had for generations. "Oh he was a great resident so we CAN'T take him off the coin." So I guess every time we have another "great" president we will have to create another denomination to put he portrait on, andfrom which it may never be removed.

Well said. Even though I have no real problem with it (probably because dead people on money is all I have ever known in my lifetime), I feel it was a mistake to put real people on coins to begin with because it makes design changes almost impossible. What about the alleged disrespect to Franklin or Eisenhower when their image was removed? Surely they have just as much (and with the case of Franklin probably much more) historical importance as Roosevelt!

We could do a new portrait of FDR on the Dime, but every time I see the new Jefferson obverse, I wonder how they'd screw up a new FDR Dime obverse... Ben Franklin may have been 'bumped off' of the Half-Dollar, but he is still on our highest circulating denomination, the $100 Bill. And Ben's bill denomination is still made for circulation, unlike the 2002-up Kennedy Half-Dollar. I would have no problem with a Reagan $2 coin and an Eisenhower $500 bill! Of course, one reason why we had Liberty on our coinage so long is that George Washington said he'd rather have Liberty on our money than Presidents....

Great comments, DNA! Quote: I would have no problem with a Reagan $2 coin and an Eisenhower $500 bill! I like that idea! Regardless of who ends up on them, I feel we should add a $2 coin (and eliminate the one and two dollar Federal Reserve Notes) and introduce a $500 FRN (especially with the 500 Euro note gaining popularity).
