my grandfather have me this coin he was a big boxing fan I know the pictures are bad but the coin says on the obverse joe louis 1914-1981
and on the reverse it says world heavyweight boxing champion1937-1948
act of congress 1981 the ring championship belt joe louis. I know there was a boxing magazine called the ring so I am thinking it may have to do with that but I am not sure.

Could have been a promo for that mag, or something similar. It's not a coin.

Try a scanner.

There is a bronze version of the Congressional Gold Medal presented to Joe Louis's widow by President Reagan in 1984.

If "US MINT" is embossed on that plastic packaging, then it is the bronze reproduction produced by the US Mint.
