The Royal Mint - For millions of years, dinosaurs roamed the planet before they became extinct. Their fossilised remains lay buried underground until the earth was ready to give them up. And the story of their discovery starts right here in Britain.

Anyone else fed up with the long list of "packet only" issues coming out of The Royal Mint?

I won't buy them and I am meeting increasing numbers of collectors in the markets who feel the same way. They are not real coins if they are not in circulation.

Unfortunately, with lots of 'bright 'n shiny' silver proof issues from all major Mints around the World,
when it comes to selling them, low buy back prices have to be expected.
They are best bought with the idea and intention of always keeping them, with no intention of ever selling them into the secondary collector market some years later.

My local LCS in most cases, won't offer to buy them for much more than the actual silver bullion value.

There are one or two exceptions,
but they usually involve extremely low mintages, of very high significance to the collector, and where the Mints originally offered them at very high prices to justify the low mintages. (Otherwise, no profit for the Mint that issued them.)
