It was found in 1988 by a friend of mine who thought it was neat and just put it up until now. He told me about it the other day and let me take some pics. Of course he was wondering how much could one of these go for? Thanks for any replies.

$676.66, once certified, if you're lucky.

The important part is that it's struck on a struck dime, as opposed to struck on a dime blank.

what probably happened is the dime after it was struck and loaded into the hopper got stuck in there somehow and when they loaded cent planchets in the same hopper and it worked its way loose and got fed into the press along with the cent planchets and got restruck with the cent dies. Atleast that is one way of how I think something like this could happen, there is always the intentional way also

Hi ,

Bryan1315 has the right scenario. It was probably not intentionally at the time but it can't be ruled out.

It's a nice coin!
