Howdy, I bought this nickel at a flea market the other day for $3.50.
It has some pretty nice detail, but it also has got a nasty gouge on the obverse. However on the left side of the reverse there appears to be some sort of die error next to the maple leaf. I couldn't find any posted varieties of this coin online so I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas!
It doesn't appear post-mint like the damage on the obverse. Here's a google doc with some high-res photos:
https://drive.google.com/drive/fold...?usp=sharingIs this a common error? Is it valuable? I know that the serious damage reduces any value significantly, and I initially bought the coin to fill a hole in my album, so it's a win-win either way.
Thanks for your time!!
