1955 Lincoln Wheat Cent / LWC With Crazy Lamination Issues!

SilverLee33 Valued Member United States 54 Posts	Posted 02/21/2020 07:22 am Hello! My 1955 LWC has me baffled! I've had this coin for a long time~ Unfortunately I did not store it properly, so there are many things happening to it, which I believe one is a lamination issue? I thought there was something stuck to it so I pulled a nice size piece of lamination off where the darker area is~ around 2:00. Ugh! As soon as I did it I knew it was something I should not have done. I know NOW, I should never peel anything off a coin~ lesson learned~ It's still a cool looking penny though~ I bet there is not another one out there like it! I used a different magnification and light to take the 2nd and 3rd pic. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/21/2020 8:11 pm Looks like glue, over cleaning and the coin was struck with an extremely worn die. Is it really raised, or incuse? If raised, it is glue. If incuse it maybe a lamination or the coin was damaged. Not a plus for the coin. But still a Wheat cent and worth tossing into the wheat pile: Report this Post to the Staff
