Hollywood Pillar of the Community United States 1228 Posts	Posted 10/22/2008 3:44 pm Do to the so called silver blank shortage do you think that the u.s.mint will produce silver sets in 2009 I know the new 2009 lincoln cents will have a different composition in all 4 of them what do you think ? biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 10/22/2008 9:52 pm Based on an average mintage of silver proof sets issued since 2004(1st year for reg silver sets and quarter only sets) with 600,000 quarter sets and 1.1 million full sets, about 2 million ounces of silver are needed. The Mint should not have a problem with obtaining silver for that. The problem occurs when the Mint churns out over 10 million Silver Eagles and still cannot meet demand, in addition to several hundred thousand proofs and Burnished Ws Report this Post to the Staff
