You can see many more like it if you do an image search on "1864 Our Army Civil War Token". Your close up of the date shows that the 6 has a distinct shape from the 8 beside it, particularly the upper part of the digits. Many Civil War Tokens were very sloppily produced. I'm reasonably certain nobody tried to alter the date. It was just made like this. Report this Post to the Staff
