This week I went through (almost) all junk bins available here. Including the large ones that took about an hour to search..

These are some of the finds:

Junk-Bin-Finds

* Canada quarter - 1964 - $1 bin. Correctly identified as silver by me , not so by the dealer. Almost looks proof-like.
* Chile 10 pesos - 1986 (according to the new Krauses, it's the wide date variety) - a theoretically common coin that has an availability of almost zero here. Especially in EF. $0.50.
* Soviet Union 10 kopek - 1937 - nice detail, good type. $0.20. Krause: $3

Agreed with the Canada 25c. The cameo finish of the portrait and the strong square rims suggests it came from a PL set--does anyone know the distinction of "specimen" coins? I don't have any myself. My Krause does not list the mintage of the 10 Kopeck--any ideas? Nice group!

My Krause lists mintages of small Soviet coins up to 1936.. then the 1967 and that's all. So are they still classified? . I'd say it'd be 80-115 million based on the earlier mintages and prices.

Very nice. I'm missing the 1937 10 kopek in my collection. Nice find!

I'm also baffled as to why mintages aren't made available. Russian coins are fairly popular, but I cannot imagine trying to find those records today. I don't think it's an exaggeration that old Soviet bureaucracy was legendary.

Btw, does anyone know any Russian collectors here? They would sure have some interesting and useful insight for other collectors.
