I don't know much at all about this. It was behind some paper at the bottom of this box. It's stuck there, don't think it can be removed without destroying it. Not that it's in good shape anyway. Wondering if anyone knew anything about it, are there links to any good copies of a note like this?

This was one of a set of four obsolete fractionals issued in 1840. The full set was 12-1/2˘, 18-3/4˘, 25˘, and 50˘. This particular example sold at Heritage for $282, but as you observed your note is not in the best shape. Still, quite an interesting piece. The box is nice, too!

It's Impressive how good of condition those other notes are. This box was filled with old coins that were passed down within the family, the paper at the bottom had a 25 cent bill inside, a couple of stamps, and old ticket stub.

Being from Detroit I find this note very interesting. Thanks for posting. I may have just found a new item to collect. I would love to have all in the series!
