This rare gem has been off the market for thirty years. Stack's has it listed for the March 19 Baltimore auction with a current bid at $550,000. So what's the closing bid?

There's also another beauty off the market for 35 years, a 1884 PCGS PF64+, CAC at $150,000 from the same collection. Both remarkable!

I have to admit:-
It IS in rather nice condition!

To the average Joe, back in 1885:
"Aw, it's just another Dollar!"

I'd venture right around $1,225,000 before the juice is added. So it will be over $1,250,000

The auction's other proof Trade dollar - the 1884, is extraordinarily pretty! It's the Amon G. Carter specimen. While not the finest by a long shot it's one of the prettiest for sure.

I had to put some sort of limits on what I would collect.
Proof coins is one of those limits.
I do business strikes only.
